Alter
I made a more traditional Mexican alter for my dad that passed away 2 years ago. He was definitely one of the most important people in my life and one that I miss everyday. I made an alter with a few of the things that remind me most of him. My mom is originally from Mexico, and that was one of my dads favorite places to go. We had a vacation house there by where my moms family lived. Whenever we would go to visit my dad would find some excuse to go a couple weeks early "to get the house ready". The map represents not only his love for Mexico, but also his love to travel, he always organized family vacations whenever there was a chance. There are also some of his favorite foods offered in the alter, along with drinks he enjoyed. My mom is a great cook, one of his favorites was her amazing mexican orange rice.
The Jacket is something that reminds me a lot of him, he wore it everyday even if he wasn't riding his bike that he was obsessed with. He always wanted to take us on a ride on his Harley in the summers. When it was a nice day, you would see him outside polishing it and listening the the radio. He had a thing for bikes and old cars.
The smaller picture on the left is one of my favorite pictures of him. It's a face he would make often whenever he was joking around with us, especially when he was playing around with my sisters kids. He would always make this weird noise with his lips to get their attention.
