Oh my, I forgot to introduce myself.
My name is Kirsten Miranda (as you may have gathered from my last post), but some people call me Kirs (pronounced like "curse", which is horrible, but I enjoy it).
As I was out of class, sick, on the day the Self Portraits were presented, I feel a slightly lost, but I'll do what I can.

This self portrait was completed in 2009, around the time I started my application to SAIC. I was getting anxious about the weather, and attempted to overcome that by using a Fall/October color palette with thinly applied acrylic paint, but still keeping that same anxious, nostalgic and apprehensive emotion in the work. Why is the palette significant? We don't have seasons in Singapore, where I'm from.
As you can tell, my hair was longer and cut with bangs when I did this, but a few months later just chopped it all off...and it is currently chopped off, but just a bit grown out now. This doesn't entirely depict who I am, as this only captures a particular time in my life, but part of me is beginning to regain that anxious feeling about the weather here as the weeks grow colder.
CHEERS!
-Kirs
ps. Sorry for the ugly watermark ):
