I created an altar for my late great-grandmother. My Grandma Blanche has been the biggest influence in my life so far. When I was little, I spent almost all of my time with her, and therefore learned most of my life lessons from her. The elements of the altar I created all symbolize memories of the fun times we had together or represent some of her favorite things.
The items in the offering surround one of my favorite photos of my grandma: her wedding picture. I love this photo because I will always admire the relationship she had with my grandpa. They had a very strong relationship that lasted over 50 years. Someday I hope to have the same marriage they had.

There are various offerings around the photograph. When I was young, I spent my summers at my grandma’s house playing, doing crafts, and of course, eating snacks! I chose the offerings based on these memories. A paintbrush and a ceramic hand in a rock star gesture symbolize art and music, which were two of her favorite things. There are jugs of juice and pieces of candy that she always had stocked in the fridge or cabinet.
Gracey,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your Grandma Blanche left the physical realm, but bet she's smilin from heaven, about all that juice and snacks on her alter. Hope you shared it with your family....
